The teaser shoot for Women in Flux(us), our upcoming documentary, directed by Emmy Award-winning filmmaker Lina Plioplyte, has recently taken place in Bremen, Düsseldorf, and Wiesbaden.
Women in Flux(us) unpacks the radical art, subversive humor, and quiet labor of Takako Saito, Alison Knowles, Yoko Ono, and other women artists who shaped Fluxus – one of the most influential avant-garde movements of the 20th century – revealing how they lost the credit for their work and are now taking it back with the help of curators, art historians, and a new generation of women artists.
Filming locations included the Weserburg Museum of Modern Art and the studio of Bremen-based artist Wolfgang Hainke. A central aspect of the project is its engagement with archival materials, where ongoing research reveals how works are only now being reassigned to their rightful creators, an important step toward correcting decades of historical omission.
Women in Flux(us) is a German-Lithuanian co-production, reflecting close collaboration across borders. Freud & Ecstasy is partnering with Lithuanian production company VšĮ 360 laipsnių filmai/Cinema Cartel, helmed by Andrius Lekavicius.
The production is supported by Nordmedia and the Lithuanian Film Center.
The team now moves into the next phase of development, with the completed film set to offer a fresh perspective on Fluxus through the lens of its female protagonists.
